On the morning of 24 Aug 2024, the residents of Chong Pang gathered at the Social Space @ Chong Pang, and they were eager to learn how to take quality photographs using their smartphones. Enthusiastic attendees filled the venue and the excitement grew as trainer John Amos Tan began the session.

FirstCom Academy partnered with the People’s Association to organise this free workshop, giving Chong Pang residents the chance to develop new photography and editing skills. They also received training on editing vlogs for their next vacation.
The energy levels at the venue heightened when Minister Shanmugam made an appearance to show his support. Attendees were quick to put their new skills to the test, capturing photos with the Minister. We were honoured by Minister Shanmugam’s presence, which demonstrated the government’s commitment to upskilling Singaporeans.

With many retirees in the area who enjoy travelling and leisure walks, the workshop offered them the opportunity to learn how to capture and share the beautiful sights they encounter with family and friends. Learning to edit vlogs was also valuable, enabling them to compile travel videos and share their experiences in a more engaging way. As the saying goes, ‘a picture speaks a thousand words,’ and these new skills will help them create and share high-quality content.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to the People’s Association for this collaboration, which provided us with a platform to engage with the community. Seeing the satisfaction of the attendees, we are already looking forward to bringing more workshops and events to the community at large.
As we continue our efforts to help Singaporeans upskill, we hope to build a closely knit community that we can regularly engage with. Events like this will be the perfect for fostering such connections.
