The Jobstreet Career Fair 2024, held at Sands Expo & Convention Centre from 24-25 August, was designed to connect job seekers with employers across a wide range of industries. FirstCom Academy was proud to participate as an education partner in this significant event.
Aimed at addressing the evolving job market, the fair focused on sectors experiencing growth and transformation, such as technology, finance, and healthcare. It catered to both fresh graduates and experienced professionals looking to advance their careers or make a career change.
Attendees had the opportunity to explore various career options, meet with recruiters, and apply for jobs on the spot. The event also featured workshops, resume clinics, and talks by industry professionals, all designed to enhance individuals’ employability and career prospects.
As an education partner, our mission was to showcase the courses we offer and highlight how upskilling can significantly increase employability. Additionally, we collaborated with our trusted employment partner, AKG, to host a workshop focused on crafting professional resumes that leave a lasting impression on prospective employers. This workshop equipped attendees with the skills needed to improve their chances of securing interviews. It received a warm response by the crowd as many were enthusiastic to find out how they can enhance their resumes.

The fair also included insightful talks by career experts, offering valuable tips and actionable advice to help attendees make informed career decisions. Our CEO, Jim Giam, participated as a panellist in a discussion on “Empowering Your Career in the AI Era,” which sparked an in-depth conversation about the growing importance of AI technology in today’s job landscape. As more companies integrate AI tools into their work processes, understanding how AI works has become essential.
Jim also reiterated the point that upskilling is crucial for individuals who are seeking to transform themselves and their careers. With the wide variety of courses and the many government grants available, it is now very accessible for everyone to upgrade themselves, so as to meet the growing demands of organisations when it comes to required skill sets. Individuals need to equip themselves with in-demand skills in order to remain competitive and bring value to their organisations.
